In this course, we choose to apply the democratic intervention model and teaching of self-discipline. With these approaches, children are happier, have better self-esteem, learn favorable behaviors and acquire the skills they need to interact positively with other children and adults.

Democratic relationships are more positive because they are based on power sharing and mutual respect. Children can be guided effectively toward self-discipline without using punishments, material rewards or withdrawal. In this course, students establish a helping relationship with children on an educational level. To show what they understand, students are able to create meaningful connections to children, analyze their socio-affective behavior, show evidence of emotional balance in their own behavior, adapt their language to the level of children and use appropriate methods of intervention.
