The deadline for all registrations is February 28 of each year.

Conditions for admission vary depending on the program you choose. You have to meet the conditions given, which will ensure that you are able to successfully complete your chosen program.

Here's how to register:

1. Fill out the Collège de l'Île registration form.

2. Indicate the program of your choice on the form.

3. Pay the non-refundable application-processing fee of $100. However, if the students does attend the Collège for their postsecondary education, we will reimburse half of the application fee.

4. Submit the documents required for the particular course of studies. Photocopies and faxes are not accepted. In some instances, an evaluation of your academic credentials from World Education Services (WES) at https://www.wes.org/ca/ will be required. WES evaluations compare your academic credentials, no matter what country they are from, to certificates and diplomas awarded in Canada. WES evaluations are accepted by a large number of institutions; they are the most reliable and the most requested in their field. Admissions Services will let you ko if this evaluation is ncessary.

5. All newly-registered students shall meet the stated language requirements and shall complete an oral assessment in French and English before the Collège issues a letter of admission.


To obtain a study permit, you need an official letter of admission from our institution. Your letter of admission will contain the following:

  • The name of the program into which you are accepted;
  • The start and end dates of classes;
  • Prerequisites you must meet to take the course, such as the knowledge of French.

When you receive your letter of admission, you will have to follow the Government of Canada's process to obtain a study permit. For more information, please read through the federal governement information on study permits.


Note that the following international fees are added to the fees for regular programs for each year of study at Collège de l'Île:

International fees: $3,250

Optional health plan: International can purchase an optional health plan for $600 per year (Destination Travel Group Inc.)

Description of the optional health plan for international students


You should plan for about $18,000 a year to study in Canada. Below is an overview of the costs in Canadian dollars to help you plan a budget for each year of college. Personal expenses depend on each person's lifestyle and personal circumstances.

  • Application-processing fee $100.
  • Confirmation fee of $ 225 (Requested upon admission and corresponds to the seat reservation fee. Fee reimbursable on presentation of visa refusal or deducted from tuition fees if the student comes to campus).
  • Tuition $3,754 to $5,902
  • International fees $3,250
  • Mandatory health and dental insurance $410
  • Optional health plan $600
  • Textbooks and supplies $500 to $2,000 approximatively. These fees vary depending on the program.
  • Lodging (per month) $800 to $1,500
  • Food (about $75/week) and incidentals $4,000
  • Transportation: Charlottetown Campus (option to take the bus): $500, Wellington Campus (need a car): $1,500 to $8,000

Since March 1, 2019, international students can apply for a PEI Provincial Health Card which provides them access to the provincial healthcare system. However, some fees are not covered by the provincial health plan.

Before starting your program at the Collège, you have an opportunity to enrol in an intensive course to learn French and English at Collège de l'Île This additional training is for a maximum of 20 weeks per language and takes place at the Collège. An assessment before you arrive will be used to determine what level you are at and how long your training will last. 

The digital portal is accessible via the Internet, so students can begin their language training in their own country and finish up in a immersion session in the months preceding the start of their college program. You have to attain Level 10 to succeed at college programs. Following the initial language assessment, the Collège will advise the student how many modules need to be completed. International students have to complete modules 1 to 3 through distance learning in their own country. Modules 4 to 10 may be completed in an immersion program at the Collège, or through distance learning. Since the immersion program on site at the Collège is enriched with cultural and recreational in the activities community, the Collège recommends this approach to reinforce language learning.

Fees and deadlines


  • Offered through distance learning (modules 1 to 3) at a cost of $350 per module. Language Research Development Group (LRDG)
  • Offered as immersion classes (on site at the Collège) from April to June each year at a cost of $700 per month (modules 4 to 8).

Collège de l'Île has two campuses in Charlottetown, the provincial capital and in Wellington, the western part of the Island. We don't have residences on campus but you have a few housing options.

We can support you in looking for an apartment or room to rent. You may also stay with a host family, but spaces are limited.
