Wellington, PEI – July 15, 2014 – Interested in the healthcare field? The moment is right for anyone who wants a career change. Collège de l'Île's resident care worker program will ready you to launch a great career on Prince Edward Island, in a profession where demand is growing.

Resident care workers are in high demand on Prince Edward Island, especially male resident care workers. "With our aging population, the demand for resident care workers will inevitably grow in the coming years. The average age of resident care workers on Prince Edward Island is 42. Only 102 of the 715 resident care workers on the Island are men, and most of them are between 35 and 55 years of age," noted Colette Aucoin, Vice-President of Collège de l'Île

Collège de l'Île offers a resident care worker program that prepares students to acquire the knowledge and to master the techniques they need to provide long-term healthcare in institutions, in the home or in acute-care settings.

Daniel Arsenault, originally from Egmont Bay, graduated from the resident care worker program in 2011 and is working in his field at Summerset Manor in Summerside. "I really enjoyed my experience as a student at Collège de l'Île The Collège prepared me really well for a career as a resident care worker and I would heartily recommend it to anyone who might be interested in the profession."

The next session of the resident care worker program begins in October 2014 and is open to both full-time and part-time students.
