Donald DesRoches, President of the Collège, said that, "We're making this change to encourage young people who speak French to consider continuing their postsecondary education in French. We want to ensure that these young people take full advantage of their investment in learning French over their many years in school."
Collège de l'Île is offering the following scholarships for the 2015-2016 academic year:
- One $1,000 entrance scholarship to a graduating student from each high school on PEI
- One $1,000 entrance scholarship to an adult student returning to school after an absence of at least a year and having graduated from a high school on PEI
- One $1,000 entrance scholarship to a student from outside PEI
- One $500 scholarship to a student enrolled in a program recognized by the Consortium national de formation en santé (CNFS): Resident Care Worker, Human Services, Youth Worker or Practical Nursing.
In September 2015, Collège de l'Île will offer the following regular programs: Bilingual Administrative Assistant, Accounting Clerk, Early Childhood Educator, Early Childhood Assistant, Human Services, Youth Worker, Resident Care Worker and Welder. The Practical Nursing program will start in January 2016. The deadline to register for these programs is February 28, 2015.
