WELLINGTON, PEI, January 29, 2016 – “Once you’ve taken the Welding program there are lots of job possibilities. It’s a Red Seal trade, so there is plenty of potential for employment with construction companies, equipment manufacturers, etc.,” explained Colette Aucoin, Vice-President of Collège de l'Île

Welding is offered in partnership with the Collège communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick. About 30% if the course is theory, taught by videoconference. Students also do projects in the shop and work terms in businesses in their region throughout the year.

Samuel Niyonzoma, who graduated last June, values his training at Collège de l'Île “I learned the different types of welding that I needed to learn. They taught us all sorts of little things we need to know to be a good welder.”

“Students gain very concrete, practical skills. At the end of the program, they can pass the Canadian Welding Bureau’s qualifying exams,” Ms. Aucoin added.

Samuel highly recommends the Welding program at Collège de l'Île to anyone interested in the field. “I advise future Collège de l'Île students to enrol in Welding because it’s a trade where you can easily find work after you graduate. It’s a trade where you always have something to do with your hands, you’re always moving, and there are lots of opportunities.”

During the 2015-2016 academic year, Collège de l'Île will present all of its programs and trainings through testimonials from its instructors, current students and recent graduates. Short videos have also been prepared to round out the campaign. The Collège is pleased to present its Welding program and invites you to view the related video, which says so much more about the program.
